  • Oral Hygiene: Maintain excellent oral hygiene following gum contouring. Carefully use a toothbrush with soft bristles to gently brush your teeth not to disturb the treated gum tissue. Continue to floss daily, taking care around the reshaped gums.
  • Dietary Considerations: For the initial 24-48 hours after your gum contouring procedure, opt for a soft diet to minimize irritation to the treated area. Avoid consuming extremely hot, cold, hard, or crunchy foods. Ideal choices include yogurt, mashed potatoes, and smoothies. Gradually reintroduce your regular diet as your comfort allows.
  • Pain Management: Some patients can feel a little bit stiff or uncomfortable after gum contouring. You can find effective over-the-counter pain medicines such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen to manage any post-operative pain or discomfort. Follow the recommended dosage instructions.
  • Temperature Sensitivity: Your gums may be sensitive to temperature changes immediately after the gum contouring procedure. To minimize discomfort, avoid consuming very hot or icy-cold foods and beverages. Opt for items at a moderate temperature.
  • Rest and Relaxation: You must get enough sleep in order to heal.Take a break from strenuous exercise for a minimum of one 24-48 hours following the procedure. Resting allows the reshaped gums to heal and settle effectively.
